USTA Junior Team Tennis Information

Picture
USTA Junior Team Tennis is a program that emphasizes fun, fitness and friends as well a provides junior players of all ages the opportunity to develop their tennis skills and become lifelong players.

USTA Junior Team Tennis is a seasonal program of team practice and match play for boys and girls. The program uses formats that are easy to administer and that accommodate all skill levels. The team tennis format also allows players to focus on the enjoyment of the game while promoting the spirit of competition and camaraderie.

You may register by mail or online this season.  To register, visit the Spring Registration Process page.  Co-ed teams are are comprised of at least 6 players roughly the same age and ability level.

QuickStart is a format for young tennis players ages 10 and under.  There are two different formats, one for children ages 6-8 and another for children ages 9-10.  Click here to learn more about this exciting new program for our youngest juniors.

Reminders:
The winning team from each division (18-under, 14-under, 12-under, 10-under) will be eligible to advance to the State Championship Tournament.  We can have one winner in each division in our Fall season, and another winner in each division in our Spring season. If we get more than four teams in a division, we can send even more teams to the Championships!

1 – Rankings points will be earned for match play at the State and Sectional tournaments!  USTA Georgia will award Level 5 points for the Intermediate Division at State, and Level 4 points for the Advanced Division. The Beginner divisions and QuickStart matches do not earn rankings points.

2 – The scoring format is now the best 2 out of 3 short sets. A “short set” will be four games, still with no-ad scoring.  A 10-point match tie-break will be played instead of a 3rd set.  This format is approved for rankings purposes, whereas the pro-set is not.

3 – Coaching is allowed during changeovers. Only the team coach/captain may speak with the player(s). All coaching is done through the fence, never on court.

4 – QuickStart JTT is for children ages 6 – 10 who have already completed at least three month’s QuickStart instruction.  Read the FAQs below for more information.  QuickStart JTT is NOT an instructional program but rather is a playing opportunity for those already learning the game.
